The Maya Company is owned and directed by Senta Duffield, who is incredibly passionate about growing people, helping them reach and maintain their dreams and goals, and helping them to heal emotionally, physically and mentally.
Senta, has run a successful belly dance studio, Maya Dance Company, in Durban since 2005. From 2018 she has incorporated the belly dance studio, along with everything else that she offers - her book “Dancing with your Skeletons,” public speaking, emceeing, counselling, coaching, event/show/tour organising, blogging and vlogging under one company – The Maya Company.
The main purpose of The Maya Company is to offer a holistic dance experience, including coaching and counselling to the dancers within the studio, and in other studios. And to inspire, support, encourage and grow the audiences Senta speaks to, the readers of her book, and attendees at the events, shows and tours.
Senta is the chairlady of the SADTA belly dance association, and offers teacher training through SADTA. She also sits on the KZN Women in Business committee, and has been a proud member of KZN WIB for 8 years. She was a finalist in the KwaZulu/Natal Woman of Excellence Awards, in the Arts and Culture Division in 2012, was awarded the Umhlanga Woman Achiever of the Year Award in 2013, and was featured amongst the Mail & Guardian’s 200 Young South Africans of 2014.
She has appeared on The Expresso Show, Spirit Sundae, YoTV, East Coast Radio, Lotus FM, MegaZone Hit Radio and other South African television and radio shows.
